Q. Where do you find your design inspiration?
My inspiration usually comes from my customers and my team. They are an endless source of energy, inspiration and ideas.

Q. What about designing do you enjoy the most?

I love the process of designing but my favorite part is probably the joy I feel when I’ve created something I really really love and seeing the beautiful pages and projects my customers and team create.

Q. Why do you love Disney?
It’s the happiest place on earth! What’s not to love? Disney to me is like a piece of childhood preserved. It’s magic, it’s imagination and fun.

Q. Who is your favourite character?

That’s a tough one. I love all the original classic characters because that’s what I grew up with. I think it’s a toss up between Mickey and Pluto. I love Pluto. And Donald. Oh boy I can’t decide.

Q. Where do you find your design inspiration?
I have a long list of kits that I would like to do, My inspiration can come from the smallest thing and it just grows from there. I like to browse the internet a lot, Pinterest is both my friend and my enemy.

Q. What about designing do you enjoy the most?

My favorite part of designing is seeing it all to come together in the end. My team does a fabulous job of showcasing my creations! It’s an absolutely amazing feeling to come across a page in a gallery that was created with my product! Many thanks to the ladies who have supported me over the years! I’d have tossed in the towel long ago if you I didn’t have you!

Q. Why do you love Disney?
Every day is a Disney Day at my house. Ever since I was little, Disney has brought joy to my life.  Disney has a way of bringing out the flood of emotions in me. Don’t read this like I’m the only one, I know you cry too when they show those “pull at your heart strings” commercials! Disney holds a special place in my heart, I will visit as often as I can, no matter how old I get!

Q. Who is your favourite character?

Minnie Mouse is my absolute favorite, she is just adorable!! But as a true Disney lover, I cycle through a bunch of them, Tinkerbell, Pooh, Mickey, the list goes on!

7 Days to “A Magical Frontier” | Designer Reveal – Joyful Expressions

I’m Jenni from Joyful Expressions. I started designing over 10 years ago under the name Scrapalicious Cereal but changed that clearly destined to be misspelled moniker when I switched stores and started selling at Scraps N Pieces. I live in NC with my husband and 2 girls, 16 and 14, both of whom I homeschool and one of whom happens to have autism. We are in the stage of life where I spend most of my time in my car shuttling girls from classes and activities–dance and scouts for one girl and horses and art for the other.  I find myself staying up into the wee hours of the night just to get my scrap fix on.

Q. What inspires your designs most?
Our family photos. I love themes and I started designing because I wanted kits to match my photos both thematically and in color scheme. Each time I have a photo that I can’t scrap with an existing kit, a new kit is born.

Q. How would you describe your design style?
Fun! I try to create whimsical, fun designs that will help others scrap layouts that make them smile.

Q. What is your favourite restaurant on property?
We love most of the sit-down resort restaurants with our favorite being Whispering Canyon Cafe with it’s bottomless milkshakes and all-you-can eat skillets. But for years we struggled finding a place to eat in the Magic Kingdom park. Finally we discovered the Columbia Harbour House. It counts as a quick service credit but the food is so much better than a standard burger or hotdog. I love the battered fish plate that comes with coleslaw and choice of corn cobbette, apple slices or french fries . In addition you get a dessert and a drink.

Q. Do you have a favourite tip or strategy for the parks?
We homeschool so one of favorite things to do is to go to Disney when everyone else is in school. We have gone in November, December, January, February and March. In November and December it was still warm enough for the kids to play in the hotel pools. But in January the parks were empty and we felt like we had the place to ourselves.

My name is Megan Scott and I currently live in Arizona with my amazing husband, youngest daughter and 3 furry babies. I love to write, create – all kinds of crafts, read, and enjoy spending time with family playing games or being silly. I have been designing since April 2012 and love it!

Q. Where does your color inspiration come from?
My color inspiration comes from art that I see all around. Whether is a photograph of a wedding or a photo manipulation of a fantasy art piece of a unicorn, or even a painting, to me art inspires art.

Q. How would you describe your design style?
I don’t think I have an actual style because I like being eclectic. I base my kits on what the inspiration is from. For instance, my ‘Build Me a Fairytale Kit’ was inspired from Disney, but the colors and styles of the different princes and princesses. Or my kit ‘The Sundry Geek’ that is based on my friends and who they are, total nerds but they love it. Would I be boring if I had just one style?  😛

Q. Who is your favourite character?
I am a huge Tinkerbell and Nightmare Before Christmas fan, but now I have to add Star Wars to that list!!

Q. Are you currently planning your next trip?
We are hoping to go on a Disney Cruise next year as well as visit Star Wars.

Q. Where do you find your design inspiration?
I find inspiration everywhere, but if I am ever running short I pay a visit to the craft store!  My fans and creative team are also a great resource for new ideas.

I really love working on new collections!  To take the idea from just a thought into a tangible thing is very rewarding!

Hi there! I’m Heather Z. of Heather Z. Scraps!  I’m 35 and live in Northern VA (right outside of DC) with my husband of 10 years (John) and our two boys (Jacob, 8 and Henry, 5).  Rounding out our household are our two kitties: Bella and Charlie. I’ve been scrapping (traditional) for about 15 years now, but only started digi-scrapping 4 years ago and started designing 2 years ago!

Q. What is your favourite part of the design process? 
Creating alphas! I love alphas and personally think any kit without one is an incomplete kit because alphas are super fun to scrap with!

Q. Where does your color inspiration come from?

99% of the time my color palettes I choose are bright and vibrant colors. I’m just naturally drawn to those types of colors (you’d notice that in my home decor and wardrobe if you knew me personally, lol) .. I have a HUGE board on pinterest (both my personal account and my business account) for color palettes. I just keep collecting them and collecting them until I need a new one at which time I go to that board, pick a few that I like and think will fit my theme and then I narrow down the colors from there. 9 times out of 10 I will use 3 or 4 color palettes from Pinterest to put together one 6 or 7 color color-palette for my own use.

Q. How old were you on your first Disney trip?

13!

Q. Who is your favourite character?

It’s hard for me to choose just one character, but if I HAVE to I’m going to go old school and choose Mickey Mouse. 🙂 My favorite princess is Sleeping Beauty, I think. 🙂

My name is Marieke and I live in the Netherlands. I am married and we have 1 daughter who just turned 12.  We also have a cat and a dog. We like to go for a walk, go on vacation, to take photos and to dance.

Q. What inspires your designs most?
Music is a great inspiration, but I can get inspired by colors, time of the year, a theme, a new set of CU products, things happening in our personal life or in the world.

Q. What is the meaning behind your design name?
As said before, my own name is Marieke. I am married to Robert and when our daughter Joline was born we were looking for a name for a website. It turned out to be Romajo. Ever since I have used this name in my online live.

Q. Who is your favourite character?
Duffy the Disney Bear!

Q. Which character would you say you are you most like?
Not sure who I am most alike, but my daughter sure is like Stitch. We even named our cat after her favorite character

Princess or Pirate? Not into the pirates, although POTC is one of our favorite rides, but I love all the princesses, really don’t have a favorite.
Fab 5 or Princesses? Again, the princesses, but a trip isn’t complete without a meet with at least one of the fab 5.
Stash hoarder or Ruthless deleter? I have to admit, I am a stash hoarder. I have tons and tons of stash. I should go through it, but have been collecting since 2010, so it will be a huge job to get things sorted out and/or deleted… time I prefer to spend on designing and scrapping.
Cats or Dogs? Both! Although I think I can’t live without cats. The big cats (lions, tigers, cheetahs,etc.) are my favorite zoo/safari animals.
Tea or Coffee? Don’t like the smell of coffee, so it’s tea for sure!

My name is Fran and I live in Indiana with my husband and son, who is 13. We’ve traveled to Disney about 12 times since he’s been born. I love designing and creating new things and playing with color. I have been selling my designs since November 2011. I currently sell at Scraps N Pieces and My Memories.

Q.What inspires your designs most?
Life in general. I will sometimes think of a random kit idea and run with it. Other times, I try to find new things or themes that I haven’t done yet, I do not like doing the same theme more than once. Holidays kill me! 😉

Q. Where does your color inspiration come from?
I love bright, bold colors. I will often have a color idea in my head, and then start googling. If I know I want teal and pink, I will google “color palette pink teal” and see what shows up. Sometimes I combine swatches or images with great colors, other times, I can find the perfect palette!

Q. Most memorable Disney Moment?
When my son was 19 months old, we went to Crystal Palace. He was wearing a Pooh outfit (coincidentally). When Pooh & gang did their parade around the restaurant, Pooh kidnapped my son and said he was now his kid. I told him he probably couldn’t afford to feed my son on his Hunny salary, so he gave him back.

Q. Does your love of Disney show through in your designs?
I think so. A few months ago, one of my CT members said I had snuck a lot more Disney in my kits than she thought.

Hi all! I’m DeDe from DesignZ by DeDe and I’m so excited to be a part of MMT and get a chance to share a little magic! I live in Utah with my family – my husband and my 2 kiddos! We love books, movies, Disney, and superheroes in the Smith Family and I love that those are the things that bring us together! I am a freelance graphic designer with a Bachelors Degree in Visual Communications. I’ve been digital scrapbook designing since 2009, when I discovered that I could combine 2 of my favorite things – design and scrapbooking!

Q. What is your favorite part of the design process?

I love color! My favorite part of designing is using color and creating a swatch for a kit.

Q. What is your favorite elements to use on your personal layouts?

I love ScatterZ! I love having a little sparkle of something behind photos and other elements – just to add that special extra touch! I guess really my favorite thing to do is stack elements and photos on the page!

Q. What’s the most Magical thing about Disney?

Everything! But I especially love the feeling that you get when you watch a Disney movie or meet a character or visit a park….it adds magic and sparkle to ordinary life. It makes you feel like a kid again and just brings families together.

Q. Most memorable Disney Moment?

So many moments but I guess I will have to say that my favorite is when we surprised our kids with a Disneyland trip. I put a ton of work into the planning of that adventure and it still brings me so much delight to remember that trip! You can read more about that on several blog posts that I made HERE.

I’m Maggie / Mags / MagsGraphics from Ohio.  I’m a former 1^st Grade Teacher -turned- At Home Mom and Digital Product Designer for MagsGraphics, Gingerscraps, Scraps-N-Pieces, and MyMemories.  I’ve been married to my college sweetheart for 20 years, and we’ve got two sons:  a 10^th grader and 7^th grader!  I’m a BIG NERD – I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Harry Potter, Walking Dead, and other geektastic things!

Q. How would you describe your design style?
Since I was a paper scrapper for over 20 years (I started when I was 15!), my designs are definitely reminiscent of paper-pieced materials.  I try to make my layouts look as “paper-like” as possible.

Q.  What is your favorite part of the design process?
My favorite part of the design process is making the kit previews; then I can see how it all comes together, and there is a tremendous sense of accomplishment of completing a new collection.

Q. Who is your favorite Disney character?
My favorite characters are all of the villains!  Maleficent is a Queen who can turn into a DRAGON – how neat of a trick is that?!  Plus, the villains are much more interesting… Ursula, Captain Hook, The Evil Queen – Fantastic!

Q. What’s your favorite Disney movie?
My favorite Disney movies are The Little Mermaid and Finding Nemo—The Little Mermaid for the music, and Nemo for the witty one-liners.

Tea or Coffee – UNsweetened, Iced Tea, NO Lemon
Single or Multi-Photo – MULTI!  I love to cram as many photos as I can on a layout!
Sun or Snow – SNOW!  I LOVE Snow!
Books or Movies – the BOOKS are always better… But I love a good movie too.
